It tells the story of four individuals in World War II who make their way to the ill-fated MV Wilhelm Gustloff. The story also touches on the disappearance of the Amber Room, a world-famous, ornately decorated chamber stolen by the Nazis that has never been recovered. Sepetys was awarded the 2017 Carnegie Medal, the UK's most prestigious children's book award, for Salt to the Sea.

The Library’s Community Room is used primarily for library programs, activities, and functions. It may be reserved or rented for a fee by individuals or organizations, per the approval of the policy and room reservation agreement requirements (please see Community Room Policy). Please note, the Community Room is available only during regular public service hours and must be vacated 15 minutes prior to closing time.

Transfer, copy, or duplicate your old format content to a new digital version. Transfer slides, negatives, print photos, documents, 8mm and Super 8 film, VHS, VHS-C, DVDs, and audio cassettes. The Digital Lab is open during regular public service hours. Some projects, like transferring VHS to DVD, will take as long as the original content to finish. Book up to 4 hours each day and as many days as you please. Check the schedule from home to make sure time is available when you want to come in.

Explore STEAM concepts with activities in our Tinker Lab located across from the children's reference desk. Anything is possible in the Tinker Lab! The lab provides a space where children and teens can engage in various projects, kits, art, literature, or simply learn a new skill. Visit the library event calendar to see our current offerings for both children and teens. Use of the lab is through planned registration. In addition to STEAM activities, it is a 'hub' for seasonal events happening in the children's department, including Grab 'n Go kits, interactive displays, LEGO challenges, and more.

The space is open for some programming and regular library use. Explore STEAM concepts in our Maker Lab. From crafts and robots to coding and design, our Maker Lab makes available projects and tasks to encourage lifelong learning and exploration. New projects launch each month, and access to old projects will be upon request/reservation. The space is also available as a collaborative workspace with a variety of tables and large white boards ready for use.

Our new CR-6 SE 3D Printer is now available for use. Schedule a time for use that will cover the length of time for the print to complete. Times can run after closing/overnight, but must start while the library is open. Must have a Monarch Library System card in good standing.
